The Personal Data Protection Decree: Are you ready for it?

After more than two years since the first introduction of the draft in 2021, the Decree on Personal Data Protection, Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP (Decree 13), was finally promulgated on 17 April 2023. In this legal update, we would like to highlight some remarkable provisions under Decree 13.

The Decree applies to all Vietnamese and foreign businesses located in Vietnam or carrying out data processing activities in Vietnam, and introduces a number of new obligations and requirements for data controllers and processors, not provided for in the previous drafts.
