Electronic execution of legal documents in Vietnam

Despite the fact that Vietnam law recognises electronic transactions, documents, and signatures, DocuSign is not regarded as being an acceptable method of document execution in Vietnam and the traditional execution method continues to be almost universally insisted upon by contracting parties and their professional advisors alike. However, the pandemic lockdown restrictions have brought the matter sharply into focus.

This article discusses the regulatory framework for electronic execution of legal documents in Vietnam and whether or not the time has come for concerted action to be taken for Vietnam to be more accepting of innovative advances in the execution of formal legal documents.
