Vietnam’s Personal Data Protection Decree (PDPD) took effect on 1 July 2023, marking a significant step in the country’s approach to data privacy, consolidating various provisions relating to data protection from different laws into one comprehensive regulation.

Seven months after coming to effect, we will discuss some of the common compliance issues with respect to the decree’s implementation, and the challenges that companies can expect to encounter as the decree’s implementation continue to fully develop. Duong Thi Mai Huong, Of Counsel of Frasers Law Company, will provide some practical examples in developing a high-level compliance checklist that companies may consider adopting as part of their overall privacy and data protection policies.
